After the difficult circumstances of the last two years, affected by the coronavirus pandemic, it was with great joy that we met again at the emotional and well-attended event in which, for 26 years, Luchemos por la Vida has been recognizing those who, from their different fields of work or with their lives, have been making an outstanding contribution to road safety for the care of life in traffic. The event was held on Tuesday, November 29, in the auditorium of UCEMA (CEMA University), in the City of Buenos Aires. This year, the Luchemos por la Vida 2021 Awards were also presented in person, together with the Luchemos por la Vida 2022 Awards.
Dr. Alberto Silveira, president of Luchemos por la Vida, opened the ceremony.
The award winners, from all over the country, from different fields and occupations, road safety educators, municipalities, companies, media, educational institutions, television news and radio programs, film, have stood out during the last two years for promoting the prevention of traffic incidents and creating public awareness on the subject.
In the Schools category, teachers Griselda Moschetti, Carina Aranguren, and Andrea Díaz, from Villa Constitución, Province of Santa Fe, received the Award for having worked intensively on road safety education with their students, especially for the online work during the quarantine imposed by COVID19, including over 100 students in the Conduciendo Por la Vida program, and for the tasks developed within the framework of the 6th Global Week with the slogan "Streets for Life" #Love30, spreading the issue in social networks, and presenting a petition to the municipal authorities, for the reduction of the speed to 30 km/h in streets of their city to make it safer, healthier, greener and more livable. Martín Heredia, in charge of Training of the Police of the Province of Córdoba, was also awarded for the different educational activities, and instructing his students and subordinates with the Conduciendo Por la Vida Program, through the Online Course.
On the other hand, in the Company category, the award-winning Michelin Argentina stood out especially for the road safety education campaign for young people developed in social networks, within the Program "#ConductorResponsable” (#ResponsibleDriver).
The national fiction Film Sin Retorno also received the award for its exposure of the very serious problem of traffic incidents and road insecurity, showing some of their dramatic personal and social consequences.
In the case of Television, radio and print media, the award winners have stood out for their constant and permanent dissemination and coverage of issues related to road awareness, making an important contribution to improve traffic and road safety, such as the outstanding special reports on the subject by Telefe Noticias of Santa Fe and Telefe Noticias of Bahía Blanca.
This year, in the Newspaper category, the important media, Diario Clarín City Section, of national scope, and La Gaceta de Tucumán, of the interior of the country, were distinguished.
As for the Cities, three of them, Catamarca, Bahía Blanca and Vicente López, were awarded for the implementation of speed reduction to 30 km/h on streets, to save lives in traffic, especially those of the most vulnerable users, pedestrians and cyclists.
Luchemos por la Vida is permanently grateful to the media that support us by spreading, free of charge, our Mass Awareness Campaign, radios, television channels and other audiovisual media of national, regional and local scope, and this gratitude is reflected in these categories highlighted in each edition of the Awards. It is impossible to reward the hundreds of media that support us. This year's winners represent all the media in the country that have voluntarily collaborated with us for years. Artear -Channel 13 and Todo Noticias-, were recognized with the 2021 and 2022 Awards. In the Radio category, AM 1030 Radio del Plata, FM 99.5 Federal from Buenos Aires, AM 1090 Décadas from Hurlingham and FM 96.3 Cristal from San Andrés de Giles received the award. Among the audiovisual media, the award was given to Time Networks, which permanently broadcasts the awareness and continuous road safety education campaign developed by this Association on its LED screens located at bus and train terminals in the City of Buenos Aires and surrounding areas.
The SEV radio program of Comodoro Rivadavia, province of Chubut, also received the award for having been dedicated to road safety for the last 10 years.
In this edition, two women, Silvia González from Santa Rosa, La Pampa, and Viviam Perrone from Buenos Aires, were recognized for their Personal Trajectory on behalf of road safety, for their intense community commitment, transforming the deep pain for the loss of their children in traffic, into action, for more justice and for the increase of road safety, promoting legislative changes, such as the Victims Law, Zero Alcohol and the reduction of speed to 30 km/h in streets, with a personal, sustained and tireless dedication.
Viviam Perrone received the Luchemos por la Vida Silver Award 2022.
