New campaign "Give pedestrian its priority!"

     These years, 2019/2020, Luchemos por la Vida launches a new campaign on radio and television to raise awareness among drivers about the vital importance of respecting and giving pedestrians their priority, especially in corners and pedestrian zebras.

     We are all pedestrians, the most vulnerable in the traffic system, without a protective body, and the injuries are very serious in the event of being run over. Therefore, the Argentine traffic legislation establishes that vehicles must give priority to pedestrians who cross the road through corners or pedestrian crossing, and with traffic lights in their favor where there is.

     Nevertheless, Luchemos por la Vida systematically observed that, in the City of Buenos Aires, only 10% of drivers comply which priority to pedestrians. Therefore, the need for a sensitizing and educational message on this specific topic.

     This priority is respected absolutely in developed countrieswhere they control the fulfillment of the priorities and sanction the transgressors. The most common in our country is to see the opposite. Pedestrians must forcibly give way to vehicles in pedestrian paths or corners, since drivers "forget" that priority belongs to the one who walks. Last year, more than 1,500 pedestrians lost their lives on the streets and roads of our country (22% of fatalities in traffic).

     The new advertising campaign "Give pedestrian its priority!"has the objective of saving lives from traffic incidents, since it is essential that we all change our mentality, that drivers stop and always give the pedestrian priority, and achieve this step of growth as a society.
