Traffic safety education is one of the road safety’s pillars because the traffic is an organized system that is formed by the man. People that circulate along the public highway make a part of it and are interdependent one each others. It is the people, the public highway users, pedestrians, passengers and drivers, who, in every moment and in every place, form and define the characteristics of this system with their behaviors. And, sadly, the human mistake is present in almost all the traffic accidents. That is why it is crucial to educate the passer-by so that he can develop responsible and safe attitudes, behaviors and habits to take care of his own life and the others´ in the shared space of the public highway.
Because of that, since the beginning of its activities, the organization has promoted the incorporation of traffic safety education in every years and ages at school and it didn’t wait passively for the Government’s action. Instead of that, apart from petitioning the authorities, Luchemos por la Vida started to work on this field. As long as the massive campaigns for public awareness and education introduced the problem to the society, a program of work at schools was begun in a parallel way and with the help of private firms.
Educational workshops for elementary and high school students. Teams formed by teachers specially trained and belonging to the organization carry out participative workshops in private and public schools with contents and activities that are suitable for the different ages and the characteristic of the environment which the children belong to. Approximately, more than 600,000 people have received, direct on indirectly, road education through this way up to 2010.
Since 1994, the organization has given theoretical - practical courses for teachers, from all the levels, which aim to provide the theoretical knowledge of the basic concepts of “road safety and education” and training in teaching resources to develop these concepts in the daily work, integrated to the program of studies.
