Luchemos por la Vida mourns the loss of its President and founder

The association Luchemos por la Vida announces with great sorrow the passing of Alberto José Silveira, the President and founding member of the association established in 1990.

From a young age, Alberto was an active social advocate. Inspired by his faith, he dedicated himself to serve others and strived to build a world that is better, more equitable, and supportive. He championed and personally participated in numerous noble initiatives aimed at addressing basic unmet needs. These included projects like supplying clean drinking water to cities in the Argentine Chaco, aiding in the construction of proper housing, financially supportingeducational programs to enable more children to finish school, enhancing nutrition for children, and aiding disabled individuals, among many others. Always behind the scenes, without showmanship. As a lawyer, he passionately continued these endeavors, but felt the need to do even more.

It was during gatherings with close friends, amid a wave of tragic traffic accidents, and recognizing the lack of government intervention, that he, in 1990, proposed to commit to fight against avoidable road accidents. This led to the birth of Luchemos por la Vida, an initiative born in response to a societal demand. It became a driving force in his life, absorbinghim and influencing those around him to pursue the same noble cause – to end traffic-related deaths in Argentina. With incredible energy and commitment, he dedicated most of his time to this cause, which gradually turned into his life's main mission, all while quietly supporting other causes.

Luchemos por la Vida's achievements are significant, including mass awareness campaigns, the proposal for an updated national traffic law thatdid not exist in 1990, training courses for traffic inspectors, educators, drivers, educational initiatives for children and teenagers, and workshops for those renewing their driving licenses. The initiative continues today, with plans for new traffic laws, action against traffic safety violations, the introduction of medication alert laws, and more.
