Luchemos por la Vida Awards 2021

Luchemos por la Vida is pleased to announce this year's recipients of the Luchemos por la Vida Award. The commitment of all of them has an extra merit, given the difficult circumstances experienced in the last two years, affected by the terrible coronavirus pandemic that fatally burst into our lives, testing our ability to adapt and continue working despite the dramatic circumstances and the severe limitations imposed by the health emergency. In relation to road safety, continuing with actions to promote it has proven to be a real challenge. However, there were those who did it, and for that, this well-deserved recognition.

The Civil Association Luchemos por la Vida has been granting this annual award for 26 years to those who have stood out for promoting and improving awareness, education and road safety, in different places of our great country and from different fields -media, educational, journalistic, professional, social or from the public function- for the care of Life in traffic, from the main national epidemic we have been suffering, for decades, which are traffic accidents.

Unfortunately, because the risk of the coronavirus still persists, and in order to protect everyone from this pandemic, in the same way that we are trying to do with our actions regarding road deaths pandemic, we have decided, with great regret, to postpone the face-to-face meeting and the presentation of the 2021 Luchemos por la Vida Awards until next year. We hope to meet in person, at a date to be announced in due course, at the public event to be held on the occasion of the presentation of the 2022 Luchemos por la Vida Awards.

We congratulate this year's award winners and thank all those who, in this extraordinary context, have not ceased to contribute with their actions and commitment to promote all issues related to the prevention of road crashes, avoiding more people to die in traffic. Thank you very much to all of you.

The winged woman statuette

The award, The Winged Woman Statuette, a creation of the plastic artist Alicia Toscano, is an evocation of the classic Greek "victories". It symbolizes one of the highest and legitimate aspirations of humanity at the dawn of the third millennium: the triumph of life over death, particularly those that come on wheels, that is, deaths caused by road crashes. It’s the symbol of the goal that has motivated the existence and the task of Luchemos por la Vida for 31 years: to work so that, in our country, there are no more avoidable deaths in traffic!
