On November 9, at the beginning of the week that would culminate on Sunday with the commemoration of the World Day of Traffic Victims, the associations Luchemos por la Vida and Madres del Dolor, from Argentina, organized this virtual colloquium with the participation of over 60 participants from Argentina and neighboring countries.
During it, after the welcoming words of Alberto José Silveira, President of Luchemos por la Vida, and the projection of the film "Tribute to traffic victims", Lic. María Cristina Isoba, clinical psychologist, Director of Research and Road Education of this association, former coordinator of groups of relatives of traffic victims, spoke about the emotional shock of the victims relatives, the painful process of mourning that those who abruptly lose their loved ones go through, and the psychophysical consequences that can suffer due to the stress of having to deal with various legal and personal issues in the midst of sadness and pain. This reality transforms the relatives of the deceased or seriously injured into the other victims of traffic accidents. They require psychological attention and legal advice from the first hour and later, in order to cope with their grief and not be victimized a second time by the State.
Then Viviam Perrone, founder of Madres del Dolor, presented the "Guide for victims" prepared by the association and the project of an international Guide prepared by IRVP (International Road Victims Partnership) which offer important information about the different issues to face after the loss of a loved one in traffic.
Next, Eugenia Doménech, Lawyer, Honorary President of the Association for the Prevention of Traffic Accidents P (A) T, pioneer in road safety in Spain, former director of the Catalan Traffic Service, spoke about the “Resources for the attention to traffic victims” developed in Barcelona and throughout Spain, to provide support to victims and their families from the first hour of the tragic incident, among other issues.

Finally, ANSV (National Road Safety Agency) officials: Pablo Ranni, legal advisor for assistance to victims and their families, and Juan Olmos, Interjurisdictional and Regulations Coordinator, reported the efforts that are being organized at the national level, to starting with the implementation of line 149 for care and advice to victims.
Thanks to all the exhibitors and participants for their valuable contributions and reflections for a better understanding of the reality and needs of traffic victims’ relatives, the other victims of the road pandemic.
