On February 21 and 22, the 8th edition of the Global Road Safety Film Festival took place in Geneva. The event was organized by the Laser International Foundation, promoter of the initiative, together with the UN Road Safety Fund and UN Economic Commission for Europe.
The Festival, called "For Smart and Safe Mobility" this year, seeks to promote a culture of road safety by giving international recognition to outstanding communication pieces, advertising spots and short films produced by companies, governmental and non-governmental organizations and individuals committed, at global, national and local levels, to reduce the 1.3 million fatalities produced each year around the world.
This Association, an associate member of this event, was also awarded by this festival in 2013 for the "Safe Pedestrians" awareness campaign and in 2015 for the"Safe Children" campaign in the Latin America category.
Laser International's initiative is extremely valuable if we take into account that it is not possible to address a problem if it is not known. For this reason, communicating the road safety situation to the entire community was a priority task of this Association. Awakening interest and concern, in other words, raising awareness about the serious problem of road incidents and their consequences in terms of deaths and human suffering, increasing "risk perception" among road users and promoting safe road behavior and the necessary legal and infrastructure changes, through the use of diverse and changing communication strategies, also contributes to place the issue on the government agenda for the implementation of public road safety policies, which are essential to save lives in traffic.
It is therefore a pleasure to invite you to watch this year's award-winning films by clicking here.
